A walk to raise money for Thanet Extra’s Charity of the Year, the Caring for Connor campaign, will set off from Westgate-on-Sea next Sunday.
Connor Olsen has the rare muscle wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and his family hopes that friends and supporters get together for the third annual walk along the coastline.
Mum Georgina said: “Help us raise awareness for Connor and DMD with a gentle stroll the whole family can take part in, including the family dog, along our lovely coastline.
“We will walk to the Sunken Gardens and will be joined with a few characters for photo opportunities, a drink and a chance to buy a raffle ticket or two. Then we will stroll back for the raffle draw and collect your children’s certificates.
“Connor loves dressing up as superheroes, so dressing up is optional even if it’s just the kids – although adults are welcome too. Last year, we were joined by more than 150 people; we’re hope to top it this year.
“Please spread the word and invite your friends, family and work colleagues.”
West Bay Cafe are offering a 10% discount for the walkers and a free Mr Whippy ice cream for all children who take part.
May was an active month for Connor; he cut the ribbon at the newly refurbished Co-op store in Westgate-on-Sea and was presented with a cheque for £716.69 and superhero toys on May 15.
The following day, he visited Margate Fire Station who donated £200 towards his campaign.
