A child had to be taken hospital after being hit by a car.

Police were called to the scene in Denmark Road, Ramsgate, at around 5pm last night.

The road was closed while officers dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 5pm on Thursday, January 4 following a collision involving a car and a child pedestrian in Denmark Road, Ramsgate.

"The girl was taken to a local hospital with injuries, not believed to be life threatening.

"Officers closed the road just while the emergency services were at the scene."
