A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car along a main route.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the incident in Westwood Road, Broadstairs, at about 2pm yesterday.

After assessing the youngster, ambulance crews decided the victim - whose age is not known - required further checks.

A police spokesman said: "The collision involved a car and a child.

"The child was taken to hospital.

"The injuries were not believed to be serious."
