Clifftops in Cliftonville have been taped off by police this evening following reports of a woman in distress.

Coastguard crews have joined officers at the scene in Palm Bay, near Margate.

The alarm was raised shortly after 5pm.

Witnesses have reported seeing rescue workers on the cliffs wearing harnesses.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 5.12pm to reports of concern for a distressed woman near Palm Bay Avenue.

“Officers are currently at the scene.”
