Councillor quits cabinet role

THANET council’s cabinet member for economic development and marketing, Cllr Gerry Glover, has quit the post he has held since May 1999. Council vice-chairman Cllr Paul Rollins will take over the role while Cllr Glover will remain as ward councillor for Minster.

Council leader Cllr Richard Nicholson said: “I would like to convey my appreciation to Cllr Glover for the contribution he has made to the council in his cabinet role. He has worked hard, particularly on the regeneration of Ramsgate and the development of Thanet’s business parks.

“The council continues to place much emphasis on attracting inward investors through marketing and economic development. As a former deputy leader, Cllr Rollins brings much experience and will be a very positive asset to the cabinet.”
