Emergency services had to rush to a residential road this morning after a van caught alight.

Fire crews raced to the blaze on a driveway in Castle Avenue, Broadstairs, just after 1.15am.

The flames had spread to a nearby hedge, fence panel and gate by the time firefighters arrived.

Crews had to wear breathing apparatus and use a hose reel jet to put out the fire, which is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.

They left the scene at 1.40am.
