Crews were called after a water main burst and flooded a bungalow in Ramsgate this morning.

Occupants of the property in Windermere Avenue had to be assisted by a British Red Cross victim support unit while salvaging property and have been left needing rehousing.

Six fire engines attended the scene at 2.42am and left at 6.45am after pumping water from the bungalow and several properties downstream.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Crews used a range of specialist equipment to pump water from the property, including pumping appliances, a light portable pump, a vacuum and suction hoses.

"An engineer attended from Southern Water and isolated the mains supply. Crews remained on the scene to pump out water that had collected at the bottom of the hill."
