A fundraising frenzy will grip Thanet this week, with sponsored sports challenges and a cupcake decorating day among the events taking place for Children in Need.

Staff at Broadstairs-based Morgan Jones Recruitment will embark on one of the most energetic fundraisers when they pedal and run more than 100 miles on an exercise bike and a treadmill in the town on Friday (November 19).

The team, who will set up the equipment near Pierremont Park, are hoping for plenty of support from passing shoppers.

It comes just weeks after the company finished fifth at the KM Megagrowth Awards, which celebrate Kent’s fastest-growing businesses.

Meanwhile, at Frederick’s Café in St Mildred’s Road, Westgate-on-Sea, children will able to decorate and tuck into delicious cupcakes for a £2 donation on Thursday (November 18), with all proceeds going to Children in Need. Picture shows Lottie Bostock, Haley Neame and Pru Blundell.

Local primary and secondary schools are set to join in the fundraising fun with non-uniform and crazy hair days, while Emma Matkins will put herself through agony for the worthwhile cause when she has Pudsey Bear tattooed on her bottom. The unique artwork will be provided by Folkestone-based Squid Ink Tattoo.

Sue and Frank Cairns at the Railway Café Bar in Buenos Aires, Margate, are also backing the charity appeal, with tasty treats on offer all day on Friday (November 19). Meanwhile, on Saturday (November 20) at Emporium in High Street, Margate, staff will be swapping places with mannequins for the day. Shoppers will be invited to donate loose change to Children in Need.
