A Kent video blogger has been sentenced over the death of his girlfriend in Thailand.

Sophie Emma Rose Anderson, 41, who was six months pregnant, died after a scooter driven by Danny Glass, from Margate, collided with a lorry in Thalang, Phuket, on May 8, 2017.

A court in Thailand has reportedly handed Glass a two-year suspended prison sentence for causing death by reckless driving.

The 30-year-old is also said to have received a 15,000 baht fine, equivalent to around £340.

The couple were keen bloggers. Ms Anderson had a YouTube channel called Sophie's Joy Breastfeeding Mama.

In a series of videos on his YouTube channel 'Sun Fruit Dan', Glass shared news of his prosecution.

He lashed out at the media for portraying him a "negative" light, but said he appreciates the publicity it has brought to his channel, which currently has more than 32,000 followers.

"As you can see, I'm smiling. I'm feeling very, very happy," he said.

"I'm just going to carry on my life as I have been, and shut out that external noise.

"You don't need to get affected by what other people say and think about you.

"So-called negative situations always have a silver lining that can be used as a positive experience to help you learn and grow, and evolve to become the greatest version of yourself."

Glass also announced plans to leave Thailand.
