Funeral date set for Ramsgate dad Michael 'Archie' Ward

A funeral date has been set for Ramsgate dad Michael 'Archie' Ward, who died after being stabbed at a barbecue in St John's Crescent.

The funeral will be held at 11.30am on Thursday, July 13 at Margate Crematorium with a wake following at the Sir Stanley Gray in Pegwell, Ramsgate.

A JustGiving page was set up to help his family raise £5,000 towards funeral costs.

Having sent shockwaves through the community, the page has exceeded the target, having so far raised more than £23,000 from more than 430 supporters.

The 40-year-old collapsed after suffering a wound to his thigh and driving to Bush Avenue in Ramsgate, where he got out of the car and collapsed in the street on Sunday, June 18.

John Buchanan, 21, is charged with murder and has been remanded in custody after appearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, June 22.

A trial date has been set for January 8 next year and Buchanan will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday, July 18 to enter a plea.

Floral tributes and football shirts have since been left at the scene.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate still want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
