When police raided a flat in Gordon Road, Margate they saw one of the occupants grab something from a coffee table and back towards a window, Canterbury Crown Court was told.
A struggle took place between him and an officer until the police were able to get the object, which turned out to be a golf ball-sized number of wraps of class A drugs, Dominic Connolly, prosecuting, said.
And when Kiel Osei-Tutu, 24, was arrested and searched the police found more class A drugs inside him, another wrap in his coat and cash in a trainer.
He admitted being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and was jailed for four years.
Karsten Holmes, 43, had admitted allowing his house to be used for the supply of drugs but denied being involved in supplying.
He was convicted by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court. He was jailed for two years and six months.
Mr Connolly said when Holmes was arrested he tested positive for heroin and crack cocaine. In the raid police found 522 wraps altogether of heroin and crack cocaine, worth £5,000.
Mr Connolly said Osei-Tutu had previous drugs convictions and had been on licence from prison when the police raid took place.
Holmes had 26 previous convictions for 53 offences, 22 of which related to drugs. He was in breach of a conditional discharge imposed for possessing class A drugs.
Simon Taylor, defending Osei-Tutu, from Woolwich, said his client had taken courses in jail.
When he was released he wanted to start a new life but because of debts he fell back into his old ways.
“He intends to take more courses in prison and has a partner in Essex and is looking forward to building a life with her,” Mr Taylor said.
Sarah O’Kane, defending Holmes, said he was a drug user and as a result of this case had lost his flat and belongings.
