The death of a woman whose body was found on the beach at Margate is not being treated as suspicious.

Police said the 38-year-old from the town had drowned. She was found on the beach near the Oval bandstand in Eastern Esplanade, Cliftonville, on Monday.

A member of the public made the discovery and contacted police at 8.40am.

An inquest is expected to be opened by Thanet Coroner Rebecca Cobb later this afternoon for identification purposes.
