A former soldier from Margate - who is already on death row - has been jailed for life in the Democratic Republic of Congo for killing his prison cellmate.
That is despite expert reports concluding Tjostolv Moland's death was suicide.
French was arrested in May 2009 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, along with Moland, and convicted of a string of offences, including spying and armed robbery.
The pair had both served in the Norwegian armed forces and later in the private security industry.
They were found guilty and sentenced to death in 2009, accused of killing their driver.
They both denied the charge and said the driver was killed by bandits.
French's latest life sentence follows the death of Moland, whose body was found at Kinshasa's Ndolo military prison on August 18 last year.
French - of dual citizenship - was born in Norway to a British father and Norwegian mother, and lived in Margate as a child. He later served in the British Army.
