Steven Cook, managing director at Debenhams, says the remainder, which includes the Gravesend branch, will open later the same week.

He said: "Preparations for reopening are well under way, with strict social distancing and hygiene procedures being implemented across all stores in adherence with the latest government guidance and instruction."

Three stores with street access opened in Northern Ireland today and those in Scotland and Wales will reopen once government restrictions allow.

Shops shut in March when lockdown measures were put in place by the government as the coronavirus pandemic hit.
