A DJ who had to cancel events after being “attacked” at a Kent gig has said he is “gutted”.
Tony Marnach, better known as DJ Fat Tony, was playing at Margate Lido on Saturday when the reported assault happened.
Police were called between 1.15am and 1.37am and the musician said he had to spend “all night” in A&E.
In a video to fans on Instagram shared on Saturday, Tony said: “I can't really go into details but I was attacked last night at a gig in the DJ box which resulted in me being knocked out and taken to hospital and being in A&E all night.
“You can see the damage to my face and the swelling it's not good.
“I've been advised to stay at home and get well.”
He cancelled gigs at venues in Hackney on Saturday night.
Paramedics were called to the event and treated the DJ, who was left with a black eye.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
Tony added: “I'm absolutely gutted. I'm gutted this happened, I'm gutted that people choose violence, especially when what we try to do comes from a place of love.
“I'm really sorry that I won't be seeing you tonight but we will be doing it again in the future.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed they were investigating the report of an assault at the Lido Leisure Centre in Ethelbert Terrace, Margate.
She added: “It is alleged a man in his 50s was working as a DJ at the premises when he was assaulted by another man between 1.15am and 1.37am on December 14.
“Patrols and paramedics attended the scene and the victim was treated for facial injuries.
“He subsequently went to hospital for further medical attention.
“An investigation is underway and officers are urging anybody who witnessed the incident, and has not yet spoken to the police, to call 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/211233/24.”
