A ‘paralytic’ electrician went on a Boxing Day drink and drug binge which ended with him attacking four people.
Then after trying to stab himself Kevin Jones got into a car and drove through a hedge at the home of his former lover.
And while he was still at the wheel, he attacked two men – including the paramedic trying to help him, Canterbury Crown Court heard.
Now Jones, of Bradley Road, Ramsgate, who also attacked himself with a knife during the bizarre episode, has been jailed for a total of 40 months.
The 29-year-old admitted two charges of unlawfully wounding a mum and daughter, two charges of common assault and driving dangerously in December last year.
Prosecutor Matthew Bolt told Canterbury Crown Court how Jones had downed between 10 to 12 pints on Boxing Day and took cocaine, leaving him described as ‘paralytic drunk” by his lover, Chloe Clarke.
In the early hours of the following morning an argument began when he started demanding sex and pushed his lover out of bed when she refused.
Mr Bolt added that Chloe’s mother, Lisa, was then called but Jones jumped out of the window – leaving the women fearing he was either dead or injured.
“At one point Jones punched the paramedic who then punched him back which seemed to have had some effect of quietening Jones down...” - Prosecutor Matthew Bolt
Mum and daughter then ran downstairs as Jones forced his way inside before grabbing a bread knife and beginning to stabbing himself.
During a scuffle, in which Jones began laughing manically, both women received knife wounds trying to disarm him and feared for their lives as children cowered upstairs.
The prosecutor added that one of the knives also snapped during the fight before Jones ran out, got into his father’s car and drove at speed towards his lover’s home – forcing shocked neighbours to jump out of the way.
He said: “The car struck part of the house before getting stuck and Jones then began kicking out striking one of the neighbours, Aaron Cairns, and a paramedic trying to help.
“At one point Jones punched the paramedic who then punched him back which seemed to have had some effect of quietening Jones down.”
John Fitzgerald, defending, said Jones had been intent on harming himself and realised his behaviour was bad and was now ashamed.
Judge James O’Mahony jailed Jones for 40 months, telling him: “I take the view this was a horrific Boxing Day night after you had a huge amount of drink.
"It is only by sheer good fortune more serious injuries weren’t caused.
“It could have been an absolute disaster, assaulting people who were only trying to help, laying into a paramedic who hit back, and good on him for that.”
Jones was also banned from driving for 44 months.
