A suspected drink driver was restrained by a member of the public after reportedly attempting to flee the scene of a crash.

Officers were called to Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, this morning after a car hit the barriers on a bridge.

The incident happened near the junction for Argyll Drive at about 10.35am.

It is reported the driver tried to run from the scene and was restrained by a member of the public.

Police attended and arrested the motorist on suspicion of drink driving. They were then taken to hospital.
