TRAFFIC jams built up after a lorry fell on its side at the St Nicholas at Wade roundabout on the Thanet Way.
The accident happened soon after 3pm on Tuesday and early reports suggested a car was trapped under the wreckage.
This found not to be the case although diesel fuel had been spilled across the carriageway.
Environment Agency staff attended and the London-bound side of the Thanet Way was closed until 12.30am.
The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30s from Wolverhampton, was taken to hospital and later transferred to the William Harvey at Ashford to have damage to his left ear treated.
The cause of the incident is under investigation and anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact PC Paul Jane, on 01843 231055.
