A motorist has been rushed to a London hospital after a crash which forced a main road to be shut for several hours this morning.
Emergency crews were called at around 3.35am this morning after a black BMW 218d coupé crashed on the coastbound carriageway of the Thanet Way, near the St Nicholas-at-Wade roundabout for the A28 Canterbury Road to Birchington.
Police and ambulance teams treated the driver of the car for "serious injuries" before he was take to a London hospital for further treatment.
A police spokesman said: "The roundabout was closed while enquiries were made into the incident and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle. It was reopened at around 6.45am and officers are appealing for any witnesses to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 11-0198."
The driver's current condition is not known.
It came just hours after the A28 Canterbury Road was closed on Friday afternoon after a crash at nearby Brooksend which left five people in hospital.
