A driver was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a police vehicle.

Emergency services cordoned off Sweyn Road in Cliftonville last night following the collision.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene at about 11.50pm.

A police spokesman said: “It involved a Nissan Qashqai and a parked police vehicle.

“The driver of the Nissan was taken to hospital.

“His injuries were not serious.”

Police have not yet confirmed if the driver was arrested or not.

There were no officers in the parked vehicle at the time of the crash.
