A drug dealer has been ordered to pay back more than £8,000 he earned illegally within two weeks or face further time in prison.
Sorin Stanoiu, 25, was jailed for four years on June 22 2018 after being found guilty of possessing and dealing drugs including cocaine and MDMA.
The dealer - who lived in the High Street in Margate - was arrested on June 21 2017 after being stopped in his car by police in Ramsgate.
His car was searched and officers found the drugs with mobile phones, a piece of paper with phone numbers and names on and £380 in cash.
He was also found to be in possession of drugs and when officers searched his home they found more than £7,500 in cash.
Mr Stanoiu was brought back to Canterbury Crown Court on August 23 2019 to answer for the money he made through drug dealing after an investigation by the Police’s Financial Investigation Unit.
He was ordered to pay £8,435 within two weeks or risks further time in prison.
DCI Patrick Milford from the Serious Crime Directorate said: “We won’t stop at the point of conviction. Where there is money involved we will make an application for a confiscation order under the Proceeds of Crime Act and use this legislation to ensure those who commit crime continue to pay the price.”
