An emergency gas leak has prompted a town centre road to be closed.
Addington Street in Margate was closed just after 10am today after the seepage.
The route will potentially close for nine days but work is expected to be completed by June 20.
Kent County Highways said: “Addington Street, Margate has been closed to through traffic for up to nine days.
“The road is closed at number seven Addington Street.
“The alternative route is via St Johns Road, Victoria Road, A255 Ramsgate Road, A254 Queens Avenue, A255 Grosvenor Gardens, B2055 Churchfields, B2055 Churchfields Place and Hawley Square.
“This is to enable emergency gas escape works to be carried out by SGN.”
