An “evil” mum who killed her infant twins is set to walk free five years after being jailed for the horrific crime – having not served a single day in prison.
Samantha Ford was sentenced to 10 years behind bars after admitting drowning 23-month-olds Jake and Chloe in the bathtub at her Margate home on Boxing Day 2018.
Her husband Steven Ford, who is still attempting to divorce the killer, revealed this morning she is set be released in December, when she would have spent five years in a psychiatric hospital.
Cruelly, he says her release date could be Boxing Day – the fifth anniversary of the wicked act.
He tweeted this morning: “HM Prison and Probation Service have confirmed that on December 26, 2023, this child killer will be released without serving a single day in prison.”
“On the 5th anniversary of their murders, she will be released.”
Mr Ford, who previously spoke to KentOnline about his last memories of his children, added: “I still can't get my divorce from this evil woman because she holds all the cards.”
Samantha Ford was given two-10 year sentences to run concurrently in August 2019 after pleading guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The court heard she had kicked Mr Ford out of the family home in Ashford in 2018 before later demanding he return.
After he refused, she became fixated on trying to win him back, chillingly warning him in one message: “If this continues it’s going to lead down a horrible path.”
During a case at the Old Bailey the following year, her actions were described as a “twisted act of vengeance” against her estranged husband.
Judge Andrew Edis QC told her: “You knew it would devastate [your husband] and I’m sure that’s one reason why you did it.”
Despite the fact that she Googled how to drown someone in the weeks before the crime, Ford escaped a double murder conviction after the Crown Prosecution Service accepted her guilty pleas to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
She was jailed for 10 years, but is currently in a psychiatric hospital until she is deemed fit enough to be moved to a prison.
HM Prison and Probation Service says her release date, if she were in jail, would be around December 26, 2023.
KentOnline understands a clinical decision may be made to keep her in hospital for a further three or four months under Section 37 of the Mental Health Act.
