The grieving family of a young man allegedly murdered at a shopping centre have paid tribute to a loving son, grandson and brother.
Carl Gregory's loved ones have described him as a "typical 20-year-old" who loved Pokémon Go - although they stress the game played no part in the tragedy.
In a statement released today, the family said: "Carl was a loving son, brother and grandson who was a typical 20-year-old who enjoyed gaming, modern technology and Pokémon Go.
"We would like to reiterate that contrary to media reports, Pokémon Go cannot be attributed to his death.
"Carl will be greatly missed by family and friends and we are still in a position where we are trying to come to terms with his death, and as such we would request some privacy at this difficult time."
Mr Gregory suffered serious injuries in an alleged attack at The Link shopping centre near Westwood Cross in Broadstairs on Tuesday night.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 10pm, but he could not be saved.
Two men, aged 20 and 27, were arrested shortly after on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.
It is understood that Mr Gregory and the suspects were known to each other.
