Firefighters have rescued two people from a car after it became stranded in flood water.

Crews from Kent Fire and Rescue were called to Whiteness Road, Kingsgate, near Broadstairs at 12.55pm.

A spokesman said: "The road has been closed due to flooding.

"Motorists are advised not to attempt to drive through flooded roads or fords – the water is often deeper than it looks. They should also heed road closure signs."
