A TREASURED wedding ring had to be cut off a finger by a fire crew after remaining undisturbed on the hand of its elderly owner for 42 years.

The woman had fallen and injured her fingers causing them to swell.

She was advised by her doctor to have the ring removed in order to allow the swelling to go down and called for help at Thanet fire station.
