Moped stolen from front garden in Osborne Terrace, Margate

A "cruel" thief has been caught on camera stealing a 16-year-old boy's moped, which he had been given for his birthday, from a front garden.

The vehicle was taken from Osborne Terrace in Margate overnight on Saturday March 25, leaving its young owner "so upset".

On the same night, a motorbike was taken from Addiscombe Gardens - just down the road.

Tarnya Louise caught the act on camera, with doorbell footage showing a man wearing hi-vis entering her front garden and stealing her son's moped.

She told KentOnline: "We are disgusted with the situation.

"My son has only just turned 16 and it was his birthday present.

"What gives people the right to take other people's belongings? They need to stop.

"My son is so upset about it.

"People are so cruel."

In the video, a man can be seen lifting the moped and carrying it through the garden gate.

The mum added: "There was a lock on the brake, hence the reason they had to lift it."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is investigating the theft of two motorbikes from Addiscombe Gardens and Osborne Terrace overnight between Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.

"As part of the investigation, officers attended an address in the Millmead Road area of the town on the Sunday evening.

"Five motorbikes were seized and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and a 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

"Both of those arrested have since been released on bail while enquiries to establish the full circumstances continue."
