Fire crews needed to wear breathing gear as they tackled a blaze at two garages in Birchington.

It broke out in Chantry Park just before 6pm.

Two engines were called to scene and both garages were well alight when they arrived.

A fire spokesman said the blaze started in one garage and spread to another one nearby.

Crews remained at the scene until after 8pm damping down and checking for hotspots.
