Gate cling on to draw against 10-man Scarborough

Margate 1 Scarborough 1

MARGATE dropped two home points in the Nationwide Conference on Saturday when they drew with a Scarborough side who played with 10 men from the 21st minute.

Defender Shaun Rennison was sent off by referee John Singh after punching Terry McFlynn's goalbound effort off the line and from the penalty spot Leon Braithwaite scored his 12th goal of the sesaon. Margate played with the wind and the slope before the break but were unable to fully capitalise and four minutes into the second period the visitors drew level.

Home keeper Charlie Mitten clipped striker Darryn Stamp as he burst through and Paul Shepherd converted the spot kick.

Simon Beard had Margate's best chance after that, lifting his shot over from Mark Munday's pass and late on substitute Phil Collins volleyed wide from a McFlynn's cross.
