Kent Police release CCTV image after attack on family home in Broadley Avenue, Birchington

A disabled man has been left too scared to leave his bedroom after vandals attacked his family home in Birchington.

Wheelchair-bound Stephen Reeve's home in Broadley Avenue, has been targeted twice - and his family says the trauma is hindering his recovery.

Police have now released CCTV of a man they want to speak to in an effort to catch the culprit.

The most recent attack occurred on March 6 between 12.35am and 12.54am when three rocks were hurled through a downstairs window and car windscreen, shattering the glass.

Mr Reeve, 37, is wheelchair-bound after an above the knee amputation in July and his family believe his recovery is being hindered because he is living in fear.

His wife and carer Vanessa, 41, remains hopeful that the offender will be caught.

She said: “I really hope somebody can identify the people who did this.

“We are still living in fear and this is the last hope we have at putting the situation to bed.

“Even if it is just by the clothes worn, I’m hoping the images will help somebody recognise who did this and that they have the conscience to come forward so we can get back to having a normal life.”

The mother-of-three said the first attack happened in August last year when all four of their motability car tyres were pierced.

She added: “We are unable to move as our home has been adapted for my husband’s needs.

“It beggars belief that anyone can be cruel enough to repeatedly target a family like ours who are extremely vulnerable and unable to fight back. These people are the lowest of the low.

“The whole situation is destroying my family and I want the perpetrators to be found and pay for what they have done.”

Investigating officer PC Nick Webb of Kent Police said: “We have been following up several lines of investigation locally but CCTV has now become available and we would appeal to anyone who recognises this man to get in touch.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call police on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/6603/15.
