A person has died after being hit by a train, with rail services suspended between two stations as emergency services attend the scene.
The incident occurred in Minster, near Ramsgate, at about 10.30am.
Services between Ramsgate and Ashford have been suspended.
Up to eight police vehicles, ambulances and fire engines have been spotted at the scene, according to eyewitnesses.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called just before 10.30am today to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended. However, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesman for Southeastern said on X: “A person has been hit by a train in the Minster area, the emergency services are still on site.
“Services from Ashford to Ramsgate via Canterbury West are currently suspended.
“Ashford to Ramsgate trains via Dover Priory were previously cancelled but can now run.
“Rail replacement buses are in place to run between Ashford and Ramsgate via Canterbury West, calling all stations.”
A fire service spokesman added: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 10.48am today to assist Kent Police in Marsh Farm Road in Minster, Ramsgate.”
