The mum of a teen killed in a crash has launched a petition for calming measures at the “notorious" accident black spot.
Ethan Entwistle, 18, died when the Seat Ibiza he was a passenger in collided with a tree on Dumpton Park Drive near Broadstairs on October 1.
Now, his mother Keena wants to create a “lasting legacy” for her son and hopes his death can prevent another parent from going through the same heartache.
Writing on the campaign page, which has 218 signatures so far, she says: “My first-born son Ethan was tragically killed in a car accident just two days shy of his 19th birthday.
“His loss is not just a personal tragedy but a stark reminder of the dangers that high speeds can pose on our roads.
“Dumpton Park Drive has become notorious for speed-related accidents.
“The lack of adequate speed calming measures has turned this residential area into an accident hotspot, with two fatalities in under two years.”
In January last year, 54-year-old cyclist Jacqueline McFarling died when she collided with a car on the route.
Jacqueline's family and friends were left grief-stricken following her death in "such sudden and tragic circumstances”.
Speaking last month, Ethan’s mother paid tribute to her “amazing, one-of-a-kind” son.
“He had an amazing sense of humour and always had everyone laughing,” Keena recalled.
“All of his friends right from infant school to college have been sending messages saying how much he always made them smile.
“He was a gentle giant at 6ft 2ins and was scared of most things himself really, but he went out of his way to protect people.”
An 18-year-old man who Ethan was travelling with was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but was bailed pending further enquiries.
The petition was created yesterday, and is calling on Kent County Council to “implement effective speed calming measures as soon as possible".
Keena added: “This is not just about Ethan anymore; it's about every child, every family who could be next.
“I do not want anyone else to ever experience this heartbreak that has now befallen my family.
“If Ethan's death can help prevent anyone else from having to suffer, then we as a family will know he has left a lasting legacy.
“Let's make our streets safe again – for Ethan and all those whose lives have been or could be affected by such tragedies.
“Please sign this petition and help us bring about this much-needed change.”
