A frustrated social worker who ditched her job to make money selling intimate videos online says the move has “changed her life”.
Michaela Ogilvie, from Ramsgate, is raking in more than £1,000 a week following her drastic career change, and has no regrets about the switch.
The 32-year-old now has an army of fans paying to see explicit content of her on the popular internet subscription service, OnlyFans.
And while others are quick to make assumptions about her lifestyle, she says: "People call me a s***, but I'm actually celibate."
Michaela studied for a masters degree in adult social work before securing her first job in the sector.
But she says the role became “depressing”, and following a series of events in February she started looking for a new income.
"I wasn't happy - I was really depressed going to work," she explained.
"You have a lot of responsibility as a social worker so it’s not a job you can do half-heartedly.
"A manager was rude to me in a meeting and told me I could leave if I wanted to.
"Then on the way home an ambulance hit the side of my car as it came out of a junction - completely writing it off.
"That meant I couldn't get to my job any more anyway.
"Also, one of my clients passed away.
"She died in a care home but wanted to be at home, and I realised you can't do what you want to do to help people in the job."
Michaela had already built a large following on the social media platform TikTok, sharing videos with users, but restricted by a ban on nudity.
She now has almost 20,000 followers on the site, and a further 25,900 on the picture-sharing app Instagram.
But OnlyFans is where she makes her money, having decided to go full-time as a content creator after quitting social work.
"I enjoy it so much more than social work - it's so freeing,” she said.
"For me it’s about taking back control."
The cam-girl already has 137 monthly subscribers, but has dreams of hitting 5,000 in the near future.
She is also in the top 2% of creators on the site - a rating based on earnings and engagement over the past month - and wants to open a "sex dungeon" and write a funny self-help book.
Performing live so intimately to the masses has had its downfalls though.
"Sometimes you get in your head and feel a bit cheap,” she said.
"Sometimes I worry what people think of me.
"Men ask me to do things with them in person, and people think I'm a s*** - but I'm actually celibate.
"I have been leaked all over Reddit before, but I don’t care.
"I have days where I’m scared everyone will stop paying me online too - but I don’t think they will."
During her tumultuous childhood in Scarborough, Michaela never dreamed she would one day be raking in money from a job she enjoys.
"I put myself in care at 13 due to a turbulent relationship with my mum, and have never stuck in one place since,” she said.
"I got told I was being put in a B&B for a weekend, but that turned into a month and then into six months.
"Men ask me to do things with them in person, and people think I'm a s*** - but I'm actually celibate."
"I kept getting kicked out of B&Bs - then I got put in a young offenders institute.
"I was in self-destruct mode.
"I got a flat when I was 16, but some drug dealers used me because I was vulnerable, giving me drugs and getting me drunk then using my flat as a base.
"I didn’t come back to normal after that, and I gave my keys in at the flat and made myself homeless."
Now living in Thanet, the performer is "so happy" she "took the risks she did to get to where she is now".
"Now my advice is, think about your wildest dreams that make you excited to be alive. Achieve those dreams and just go and smash those goals,” she said.
"Anyone can do what I do if they just let go of their ego and stop caring what other people think.
"If I can go from being in care and homeless to being a social worker and then in the top 2% of OnlyFans, why can you not achieve whatever it is that sets your souls on fire and gives you energy for life?"
