One of three brothers accused of murdering a vulnerable woman by performing wrestling moves on her admitted in a police interview that he jumped on Delyth Andrews.
At first Joshua Knight, 19, denied assaulting Ms Andrews, 54, and said he had nothing to do with the attack which took place at Ms Andrews’ home in Lorina Road, Ramsgate.
But when police said that his brother Scott had told them that all three brothers had been involved in the attack he changed his story and admitted jumping on her.
“I feel really bad,” he said in his interview which was played to a jury at Canterbury Crown Court. “I was just messing around with her. But I did not jump on her from a height.”
He said he saw his brothers Scott, 23 and Adam, 20, throwing Ms Andrews over their shoulders and added: “I did not jump on her hard enough to cause all that damage. I jumped on her once or twice and accidentally landed on her face.
“It got out of hand. They did the damage to her. Scott is the worst one out of us.
"I don’t know what started this. We were only messing around at first and they started doing all these wrestling moves.”
After the seven-hour attack Ms Andrews had bruising all over her body, as well as two broken ribs on the right side, a broken pelvis, broken vertebra and a punctured lung.
Every rib down her left side was also broken.
In his police interview Adam Knight also denied being involved in the attack. “I don’t know how she got all those serious injuries,” he said.
But when the police told him Scott had told them what had happened Adam Knight said: “My brothers encouraged me to slap Del. They are a bad influence on me.

"I pushed Del but I did not do any of the things Scott said.
“I rugby tackled her and pushed her onto the bed. I was the one who ended up stopping it. Scott and Josh were jumping from the settee on her.”
He said he would have rung the police but did not because they were his brothers.
Pathologist Dr Ben Swift told the jury that Ms Andrews’ death resulted from injuries received in the assault. He said some of her fractures were the type he saw in people struck by a car at speed.
Scott, Adam and Joshua Knight, all of Lorina Road, have denied murder.
The trial continues.
