The week-long Margate Rocks street festival kicks off on Saturday.
An 18m sperm whale, giant bananas and stilt walkers dressed as flowers will be taking to the streets of the town for the contemporary visual arts festival.
Organised by Thanet District Council and Margate Town Partnership, the festival, which has an arts and ecology theme, will be taking place between 10.30am and 5pm in Lower High Street, Market Street, Market Square and the Piazza.
Fun will include pavement drawing for youngsters who can also enjoy fish talks inside a life sized inflatable sperm whale, an animatronic creature, music by Big Band Percussion and Waterhouse and an appearance by the Margate shell ladies.
Cllr Roger Latchford, council cabinet member for culture and economy, said: “Margate is already beginning to change rapidly and much of that is the result of arts-led regeneration, particularly through the development of Turner Contemporary.”
The festival runs to Sunday, May 11.
