The owner of two Kent restaurants has been named the best Asian chef in the country.
Dev Biswal, who runs The Ambrette eateries in Canterbury and Margate, picked up the title of Asian Chef of the Year at the annual Asian Restaurant Awards.
He combines Kentish produce with the spices and flavours of his native India with his approach praised by some of the country's top food critics.
Head judge Pat Chapman, editor of the Cobra Good Curry Guide, highlighted Mr Biswal's "innovative combination" of exotic and local ingredients to produce dishes which "never fail to delight".
The awards night held at the Manchester Hilton was attended by 500 top chefs, food writers and guests to celebrate the best of the 30,000 Asian and Oriental restaurants in Britain.
It followed a public vote with 100,000 people casting their views to draw up the shortlist of the nation's favourite chefs, restaurants and takeaways.
Mr Biswal established Ambrette in Margate in 2010 brings modern gastronomic touches to classic Indian dishes.
He said: "It's very humbling to receive such an honour, when there are now so many top Indian chefs creating wonderful dishes in the UK.
"It's great testimony to the dedication to my talented teams, who work tirelessly to achieve consistent high standards and create such exceptional culinary experiences."
Mr Biswal grew up in Orissa, in eastern Indian, before moving to Calcutta and training at the Dubai Sheraton hotel, moving to London in 2003.
Along with his two Kent restaurants, he also runs the Devil in Rye which received the accolade as the best Asian restaurant on the south coast.
Each of the three restaurants will host gourmet dinners to celebrate the awards.
