Fans of EastEnders would have spotted scenes from the Kent coast in an emotional episode of the hit soap last night.
Margate featured prominently as stars of the BBC show ventured out of Albert Square to visit the seaside town.
The trip was a bucket-list break for Lola Pearce-Brown, played by Danielle Harold, who has terminal brain cancer and wanted to see the sea one last time.
Her on-screen husband, Jay Brown, played by Jamie Borthwick, joined her at various locations across the town, including Dreamland's roller disco and Wildes café in Market Place.
Viewers saw them on pleasure beach rides and playing arcade games before Jay serenaded Lola on the guitar with a rendition of Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight.
Lola then told Jay of her wish to die by assisted suicide, prompting raw scenes between the pair.
But by the end of the episode she was back in hospital, where she revealed she now felt she had enough bravery to die naturally.
The scenes had only been filmed last month, when camera crews, production vans and make-up teams took over Margate's Old Town for several days.
Fellow cast members Amy Mitchell, played by Ellie Dadd, and Bailey Baker, played by Kara-Leah Fernandes, also ventured down to Margate and featured in the episode, which can be watched on BBC iPlayer.
It is not the first time the drama's actors have been seen in Thanet.
In October, the 2022 Christmas Day and Boxing Day special episodes of EastEnders were filmed at Joss Bay in Broadstairs.
The scenes included a car crash off a cliff, and Danny Dyer's last bit of screen time for the long-running show.
