Weapons seized and destroyed after police search at Invicta House, Margate

Police seized multiple knives and weapons after a search at a block of flats.

Officers say the operation at Invicta House, Margate, was carried out in a bid to tackle violent crime in the district.

They conducted the routine search for potential weapons at a property and in its grounds yesterday morning.

A total of eight items which could be used as potential weapons, including knives, were found.

"The search was carried out as part of officers’ ongoing work to reduce violent crime in the district," a police spokesperson said.

A tweet from the Kent Police Thanet account said: "A number of knives and potential weapons located and destroyed.

"An effective way to get weapons and dangerous articles off the street making your community a safer place to be."
