Emergency services including air ambulance attend Beresford Gap, Birchington after incident

A large number of emergency services were sent to an incident at the coast.

Police, two ambulances and at least one fire engine were in attendance at Beresford Gap in Birchington.

The Coastguard and an air ambulance helicopter also landed at the scene in the promenade area of the village shortly before 6.30pm.

One onlooker told KentOnline paramedics were seen parked at the top of the slipway with police preventing people approaching the area.

It was later confirmed a man in his 50s had died while fishing.
