The RNLI helped to reunite two children with their parents after they went missing on Margate beach this afternoon.
Both of the area's lifeboats were deployed during the search effort, around the main sands.
It came as thousands of families descended on the beach to enjoy the heatwave, as temperatures soared past 30C.
One of the youngsters had not been seen for two and a half hours.
A spokesman for the RNLI said: "The inshore lifeboat launched and fortunately, soon after, both children were found safe and well and the lifeboat returned to station.
"It is timely therefore to remember the advice when on the beach with your family."
Families are encouraged to use a lifeguarded beach, to speak to the lifeguards for local knowledge and weather information and to pay attention to the flags displayed.
It is also advised to have pictures of children from the day, to help with any search, and to agree a meeting place in case someone gets lost.
If you child goes missing, the RNLI urges parents to stay calm and check the immediate area while ensuring other children are monitored.
They should then inform lifeguards or the police and keep them informed.
The spokesman added: "The heart-stopping moment you realise your child has wandered off is not the time to regret giving your day out a little thought beforehand – have fun and enjoy this weather everyone but stay safe."
