Outstanding young runners from Upton Junior School impressed in the third and final Thanet Primary Schools Cross-Country League meeting of the year.
The Broadstairs school won half of the eight races and took a
further four podium finishes in the event at Hartsdown Park,
Margate, on Saturday.
Elsewhere, there victories for children from Minster Primary School, Preston Primary School, Dame Janet Junior School and Garlinge Primary School.
Winning youngsters hugged mums and dads at the finish line as
they proudly showed off their medals, which were presented by
talented pole vaulter Kara Gibbs.
Phil Pittock, chairman of Thanet Athletics Club, said: "Almost 1,000 children from 28 schools competed in the cross-county league this year and everyone involved should be immensely proud of that achievement."
Winners included Maisie Macartnery (Minster), year 3 girls 1k;
Jack Seery (Preston), year 3 boys 1k; Laura Parrish (Upton), year 4
girls 1k; Brad Jackson (Dame Janet), year 4 boys 1k; Hannah Denny
(Upton), year 5 girls 1.5k; Caine Moir (Garlinge), year 5 boys
1.5k; Kelsey Fuss (Upton), year 6 girls 1.5k; Alasdair Kinlock
(Upton), year 6 boys 1.5k.
Maisie, Laura, Hannah, Caine, Kelsey and Alasdair also triumphed in the overall competition, alongside Henry Mileham (St Nicholas-at-Wade) and Alex Kavanagh (Dame Janet), the year 3
and year 4 boys winners respectively.
