A lucky bingo player has scooped an incredible £62,000 jackpot after playing a £1 game.

The winner is known to have been a regular at Mecca Bingo at Westwood Cross shopping centre, near Broadstairs, since it opened in 2008.

Mecca Bingo caller Becca Hale said: “With the Big Bonus jackpot growing over the past few weeks, everyone was pretty excited.

“But when the claim came in, the winner had not realised how big the prize pot was.

“She was in complete shock when I told her how much she won and when I announced it the whole club erupted in cheers.”

The Big Bonus game costs just £1 and is played six times a day in Mecca’s clubs nationwide.

The jackpot grows steadily until a player matches all of the numbers on their table and claims a full house within the first 44 numbers being called, or less.

Thanet’s win is the biggest Big Bonus jackpot to be won so far this year.

Duty manager on the night of the win Jackie Lovett added: “I’ve worked here since the club opened 17 years ago, and it’s the biggest win that I’ve witnessed.

“The winner and her daughter were totally overwhelmed and left the venue in complete shock.
