A man was reportedly robbed while taking shelter in a hut by the sea.
The 30-year-old is said to have been targeted in Marine Drive, Margate, when he was approached by two men and a woman.
The trio had a conversation and the victim was reportedly assaulted, his phone was taken but discarded by the assailants, police said.
It is understood members of the public helped the man, allowing him to flee to safety.
Officers were called to the scene and arrested a 34-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man of no fixed address on suspicion of robbery.
A police spokesman said: “Detectives investigating the robbery would like to speak to the members of the public who helped the victim by intervening in the incident.
“Witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage taken in Marine Drive around the time of the robbery should call 01843 222289 quoting 46/154872/23.”
