A man has been arrested after an early hours police chase in Ramsgate.

Officers became suspicious of a car being driven erratically on the High Street at about 2.45am.

The car failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised, which came to an end at about 2.51am on Rosebury Avenue.

A police spokesman said: "A 21-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug driving, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.

"He remains in custody."
