A man has been charged after it was reported a woman had cash stolen when using a cash point.

It has been alleged that at around 1pmon Monday, a woman was using a cash point near to Cecil Square, Margate, when she had a quantity of cash stolen from her.

The cash was recovered and returned to the victim shortly after by members of the public.

Officers from Thanet Local District Policing Team attended the scene and arrested a man in Union Row.

Homeless Matthew Martin, 47, was charged with one count of theft on Monday.

He has been released on bail to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 15.
