A man appeared in court charged with making threats to kill after armed police descended on a hospital.

Multiple officers were called to QEQM Hospital in Margate on Friday morning after the alarm was raised.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing several police cars arrive at the scene in St Peter’s Road.

Officers tracked down and arrested a 35-year-old man before he was remanded in custody.

A police spokesman said: “Daniel Shord, of Canterbury Street, Gillingham, was charged with persistent misuse of a public communication network and making threats to kill.”
