A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 17-year-old girl whose body was pulled from the sea.

Michael Bowditch, 21, of Prestedge Avenue, Ramsgate, was charged today and has been remanded in custody.

It comes after the body of Becky Anne Morgan was discovered in the sea off Broadstairs last month.

Miss Morgan, 17, from Ramsgate, was found in the water at 7.45am on Sunday, May 1.

Police were called at 5am the same morning by people concerned about the welfare of a girl seen in the water at the Port of Ramsgate.

Bowditch will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.
