An investigation has been launched after a man fell from the clifftop and died yesterday evening.
Police were called just before 7.30pm amid concerns for a man on Western Esplanade, Broadstairs.
The man, who is yet to be identified, fell from the cliff before police arrived and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
With the help of the coastguard, the beach and clifftop were closed as police carried out their inquiries.
At the same time police were called to a man near a cliff edge in Fort Hill, Margate.
They called in negotiators, who managed to speak to the man, who was held by police at around 9.20pm.
Police spokesman Jane Walker said: “There appears to be no connection between the two incidents.”
