A man was left dripping in blood after a glass was smashed in his face at a Ramsgate pub.
Daniel Draper had got between two men having an argument when one of them, Danny Purvis, attacked him at the The Royal in Harbour Parade.
Purvis, 38, of South Eastern Road, Ramsgate, denied wounding with intent, claiming the incident was accidental.
But he was convicted by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court and warned he now faces a long jail sentence.
The court was shown CCTV of Mr Draper with friends in the pub on May 19 last year.
He said he was pushed by Purvis after getting between him and another man.
“I told him [Purvis] to f*** off," Mr Draper told the court. "I had been drinking about eight pints that day. I then realised the side of my face was numb and my vision had gone and I thought I had been punched.
“The impact on my face was very hard and I heard a glass smash but I didn’t realise it was on my face.”
Purvis ran out of the pub after the attack, before Mr Draper took a taxi to hospital to have his injuries treated.
Judge Catherine Brown ordered a detailed probation report to assess what danger Purvis might pose in the future.
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in January.
