A man has been found dead near a Kent seafront lido.

Police and paramedics were sent to the scene in Fort Promenade, Margate, at about 6.30am yesterday, after concerns were raised for a person's welfare.

Witnesses reported at the time that officers had taped off the area around the town's lido shortly afterwards.

And now, detectives have confirmed a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the force said: "We attended Fort Promenade in Margate at about 6.30am yesterday, following concerns for the welfare of a person.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
